The Lebanese Council to Resist Violence Against Women (LCRVAW) is at the front line of the gender battle in Lebanon today. Though the odds are heavily stacked against Lebanese women who are overcome by feelings of powerlessness, they are increasingly beating the war drums as hard and as loud as they can, in order to be heard. Complaints by women to LCRVAW are so numerous that they no longer seem to shock the public at large, despite their atrocity. Indeed abuse is becoming commonplace in Lebanon. Abuse can no longer be tolerated ! Lebanese women will no longer lick their wounds and run for cover ! LCRVAW is lobbying for gender reform. There is more than a glimmer of hope for Lebanese women desperately seeking to improve and assert their rights in society.
Legitimized sexism is under attack in Lebanon. Through LCRVAW, women can rally support, publicize abuse and get free legal counseling. With case after case exposure to local and international press, and with the support from other lobbying groups, LCRVAW hopes to be the golden straw that breaks the camel’s back in the gender reform taking place in Lebanon today.
Showcased in this web site, are some of the horrors experienced by abused women and children, presented to you as case studies, as well as information about LCRVAW, our goals, events, statistics, and much more.
